I have been a professional pilot since leaving school and joining the military. After 15 years in the military I left and have been flying for major airlines since then. I wanted to get back to the roots of flying and so purchased the RV4.
Joining Rod Tizzard is his son Jack:

My name is Jack Tizzard and I will be accompanying my dad Rod for the trip until I get to Darwin. I am a boarder at The Armidale School In year 7. I am looking forward to raising funds for the royal flying doctor service and spending time with my dad while flying.
This sweet RV4, VH-ZTI, was built by Don Willams of St Pauls Minneapolis USA, it took him 19 years to build completing it 1996. On completion he found he had aged a little and was not able to fly regularly. I bought from Don and imported to Australia in late 2010 and had it flying early 2011. It is a delight to fly and simple to operate having a Lycoming O-320 with fixed pitch metal prop. It gets along at 160kts on 29lts/hr, which makes for efficient flying.
